Fountains! I love fountains. They are so beautiful in their artistic nature. They fill the environment with a certain freshness and wonder. And they make great backgrounds for cool pics. Lol

They are not just artistic but they are also very functionalnatural and artificial architecture. Fountains seem to be losing their functionality and are being built more for the purposes of their beauty. The basic function of a fountain was to be a source of water. But it being a source of water was on the basis that it was itself sourced by a water body such as a spring or an aqueduct. Therefore, without a spring or an aqueduct, a fountain would essentially cease to exist. The structure of architecture would still exist but the water springing out of the structure would cease to flow.

“The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, To turn one away from the snares of death.”

Proverbs 14:27 NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

As talked about in previous posts, To fear God, to put it simply, is to have reverence, respect, honour and awe for God.It is to pay homage to Him as King of the Universe and to regard His words as Law. This, the Bible refers to as being a fountain of life. Just as natural fountains spout off water in different directions, watering the plants around and serving as a source of water to both plants and animals, in the same way, the fear of the Lord is a fountain that spouts of life.

God is life. He is the very essence of life. He gives life to all living beings and actually to non-living things as well. Jesus states that stones are able to cry out, indicating that they have life (Luke 19:40). Everything God created has life. It is the signature of the work of His hands.

God is the source of life.

Honor endears. Respect endears. The child who serves and honors his parent is the one who will know his fathers secrets. This is because he has honored the man, the heart of the father delights in him and is glad to share with him hidden secrets and wisdom that is not known to his peers. It is for this reason that the first commandment with a promise “Honor your father and your mother” works. When you honor your parents, they develop a special love for you that is not general to your siblings. They bless you differently from them. They speak well of you more than them. Then the promise comes to pass, “that you may live long on the earth”.

Similarly, honoring the Lord endears us to His heart such that He desires to draw us to himself, to show us His secrets and to share His nature with us. No wonder the fear of the Lord is also the beginning of wisdom.

Hear Jesus;

“Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”

John 14:32 NKJV

Jesus expresses this principle. Your love and honor reflected in your obedience in keeping the King’s law results in endearment. Then LIFE Himself comes to you and makes you His home.

There is a lot to gain in fearing the Lord. Honor God with all your heart. Establish Him in your heart as King. His word shall be your rule. Regardless of what man says, let God reign as King.

Quote of the week

”That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.”
