Heyy, good to see you here again. As this this month has been dubbed The Month of THE FEAR OF THE LORD, that is all we are talking about. It is a concept of beauty, an concept of wonder and awe for the King. As we continue to talk about the fear of the Lord, let me ask you about someone:

Have you met this woman who stands at the street corners? She is at the market too. Even in the noisy streets amongst the street hawkers. She’s everywhere. She’s also hawking her goods, trying to sell her products to you. She sells potions for long life, riches and honor. She also has elixirs for knowledge and understanding. Oh, have you not met her? I’m sure you have. She may have even called you to come to her but you ignored her. She may have approached you to buy from from her and you refused to. Think carefully. You know her. You know her name.

She’s Wisdom.

And she’s calling out to you.

““The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Proverbs 9:10 NKJV

Wisdom is a key necessity for a successful life. Therefore, the bibLe says that Wisdom is Supreme. But my post today is not on Wisdom but on THE FEAR OF THE LORD. As popular as the above scripture is, many people do not really understand what the Bible is communicating. The adage “The journey of a thousand steps begins with one” lets us know that to begin a process there is a first step that must be taken. Here the writer tell us that to fear God is the beginning of Wisdom. That is to say, in your quest for wisdom, in your search for wisdom as Proverbs 2:1-8 commands us to, the first step towards the acquisition of Godly wisdom is to fear God. We can also look at it in this way, when you begin to have reverence and to honour God above all else, you are at the door step of acquiring Godly wisdom. You are quick to enter into Godly wisdom when you reverence God. As Part of this package, you will have access to the wares of wisdom including long life, riches, understanding.

There’s a similar scripture in the introduction of the the book of proverbs.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Proverbs 1:7 NKJV

The same principle is at work here and I will share the mystery behind this:

Reverence, respect and honour has a way of endearing you to the heart of the person. A wife who respects her husband, honours and support him will always win his heart. The husband is able to love her and give her whatever she needs freely. This is why the Bible commands women to respect their husbands. It is the same word for revering God. The response of respect and honour is love and endearment. It beings you close to the heart of the person such that you are often on his mind. He will begin to draw you to himself and open up his secrets to you. Any woman who feels left out of her husbands dealings can apply this principle of honour and see its results.

“The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.”

Psalms 25:14 NKJV

As Jesus said, “Do not throw your pearls to the swines.” God does not give away His secrets to any one who wants it. Then everyone would be wise. Rather, He shares His mind, His knowledge and His understanding to those who revere Him, those who treasure Him and put priority on Him. He will not give wisdom nor knowledge of Him to one who will not cherish or appreciate it.

Do you desire Wisdom? Do you want the Spirit of Knowledge to come upon you? Do this: show reverence for God. Honour His word above all human opinion. Humble yourself before Him as you would a King. You will gain favour before Him. Your life will change.
