I always pity folks who are on saltless diets. No offense to anyone who doesn’t take salt;I literally am impressed by them. Having parents who are on such diet makes me appreciate the effect of salt in the food.

It makes a world of difference in the taste offood without increasing calories. Just a pinch of salt would make a meal more palatable and enjoyable.

Salt is more than that; it is used as a preservative in many cultures. It can also be used as texture enhancer in bread making or even a Color enhancer. And did you know that you could use salt to prevent wound infection? That really hurts, but salt sucks out water from bacteria in wounds, effectively killing them.

Salt is a powerful resource God gave to man.

SALT OF THE EARTH

Jesus, one day, declared,

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Matthew 5:13 KJV

This scripture is a declaration and a warning. In that, Jesus declares to the world that the church is the savour of the earth. The church is also the preservative of this earth but also warns the Church that if it loses its influence, it will be useless. I dare say that we are experiencing the latter part of this scripture.

The Church is the body of believers who have placed faith in Jesus Christ. The Church cuts across natural boundaries of ethnicity, language, and colour. She is an extension of Jesus and is mandated to be Jesus in this present world, introducing and establishing the Kingdom of God on earth. The Church goes beyond a building or a social system;she is to be the voice of hope and the restorer to a dying world.

Yet in the world, she has lost her voice, her dignity and, her respect. When influential people are called to discuss matters of heavy implications, the Church is not invited.

The voice of the Church is barely heard and if heard, listened to by the kings of the earth because the Church at this point in history has lost her savour. She has been cast out by many and is being trampled upon by men. How shall the church regain her savour in the world again?

The Church is to be the one thing that makes living on earth bearable. Just as salt is a preservative and prevents the corruption of a product, the Church, when serving her purpose prevents the further corruption of the earth and its inhabitants.

Amidst the hardships, the unfortunate happenings, the natural disasters on the earth, the Church is still the only hope of mankind. There is still a remnant that has not lost her savour. The Church is arising from her ashes.

There is coming a bold voice of the Church that will rise to speak the counsel of God. There is coming a strong stature of the Church that will stand against evil and protect the earth.

The Church will arise and restore what has been laid to waste.

The Church is rising to overcome the power of the dark world.

The Church will be the one to prolong the earth’s longevity; to preserve it from judgment to the very end.

The Church is not dead; it is not over yet.

Would you prefer a salty or a saltless earth? I would take salty any day!

Quote of the week

”That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.”
