This is the story of the One whose works resulted in the Salvation of man❤.

Heidi and Pamela have been friends since Heidi’s family moved into the neighbourhood from India. Two shy little girls, on the first day of kindergarten forging a friendship that has lasted well into the 7th grade.

“It’s time to tell a story”. The Camp instructor whispers in glee as everyone gathers around the camp fire.

It was Heidi’s first time at Camp. Her parents finally allowed her to go this year with Pamela. She had been looking forward to it ever since Pamela started sharing with her stories that were told around the camp fire. It was the part she looked forward to the most.

“2,000 years ago, the footsteps of divinity were forever imprinted on our world”. The Camp instructor stated with a dramatic gesture of her arms. The excitement in her voice was evident. Like she was about to let the people in on a secret. She immediately won Heidi’s attention as the murmuring of children busily munching on their marshmallows and crackers quieted down.

“Starting from a little manger in an inn somewhere in the town of Bethlehem, the light of God sliced right through the darkness of this world.” She continued

“A little baby was born by the power of the Holy Spirit. A prophecy fulfilled ,who would grow up to perform marvelous works. So many the bible does not record all of them.

In fact, it was revealed years before his birth that an indication of his presence would be that the blind would see, the lame would walk, the deaf will hear, the dumb will talk and the sick will become well again.
And so tonight I would like to tell you about all the splendid works he accomplished.” She said with joy; smiling from ear to ear. She proceeded to list his accomplishments:

“He came to set a foundation for the Kingdom of God to be established on earth. Thus, He often preached that the kingdom of God was at hand. And today, as a result of that we have Christians all over the world who are walking in the realization of being members of a Kingdom that greatly supersedes this world.

I hope that you do realize, that you are not subject to the requirements of this world or the ways of the Kingdom of darkness. I hope you are thoroughly informed on who you are as a member of the kingdom.” She paused to ask the gathering.

Then she continued her story saying:
“He became a teacher to the people, telling them the truth about God and radically changing mindsets and perceptions by showing them the actual heart of God behind his laws and instructions. He stripped away their self centered religiousness and drew a line between God’s intentions and their traditions.

Like He clearly explained to his disciples in Matthew 16:5-12, the bread of God ( the word) was enough in itself and did not need to be puffed up by the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees ( their traditions). He came to teach them the truth. To show them that He was the truth ( because He was the word)”.

“What’s more, He set a standard as the first born son of God, for all others who would later become children of God, by living out the dominion and authority we had as members of the Kingdom of God. By his actions, words and character, he established an eternal guideline for the sons of God to walk in.

That is why we taught you at Camp last year to judge your actions and words by simply asking yourselves…?

“What would Jesus do?” the gathering chorused
“Exactly!” She said. Clapping her hands together.

“And so as it was rightfully said, he came to fulfill the actual purpose of the law and not to destroy it.”

” Oh and let’s not forget his wondrous miracles”. She gleefully said moving on.

” Like at the wedding where He turned plain water into wine because the poor couple had run out of wine, or when He fed 5,000 men-not counting women and children (and some of these men had multiple wives)- with just 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes(a little boy’s lunch)- in one sitting.

And do you know they collected 12 whole baskets of leftover food? Imagine that! or when He calmed a full forced raging storm (that threatened to capsize their boat and was so drastic the disciples were sure they would die) by simply talking to it?

Not to mention all his healing miracles! Everywhere he went the blind was healed, the possessed were delivered, leprosy vanished, the dead came back to life. Even where he did not lay hands healing occured. Like the woman with an issue of blood that had lasted well over 12 years who suddenly got cured by touching the hem of his garment. Or instances where he simply sent forth a word and people got healed in other Cities like the Centurian’s servant. “

“In fact, when John the Baptist doubted if he was the Saviour they had waited for, He was told about his works. That the blind see, the lame walk, the deaf hear, the dumb talk and the sick have become well again. As it was predicted by Prophets of old that the Saviour would do.
The new testament is splattered with many such happenings.”

“He could do all that?” Heidi thought to herself intrigued.

“Not only did he accomplish feats in the natural world, He did so in the spiritual realm too.” The instructor said. Almost as if she had heard Heidi’s thoughts.

“And in the course of 3 short years, the systems of this world were drastically shaken.

He tore down the old system of temples and religion- Where the people had to go to a temple to experience the presence of God but even so could not actually enter the very presence of God. And instituted a new system where we became the very temple of God and could not only house him in our very being but personally experience his very presence”.

“What does that mean?” She asked rhetorically.
It means that before, people had to go to a temple and find a priest who could go to God on their behalf. But now, God was so close to them, He lived right in their hearts! and they no longer needed anyone to talk to or walk into the presence of their good good Father.

He bridged the divide that had existed between man and God since sin began. He tore the veil. He closed the gap. Now, you and I can also say “ABBA FATHER”. Because God has been made personal to us.”

“And He defeated death itself when he died and rose again on the 3rd day so that anybody who believed in him would receive life ETERNALLY. He became the way so that we would no longer be subject to the death that was the automatic consequence of our sin.”

“In a nutshell, everything I’m trying to say from beginning to end is simply that He came to perform the awesome work of saving the world. “

At this point the instructor paused and leaned towards the people. Asking no one in particular, she whispered “Do you know who this was?”

“A god, certainly”. Heidi blurted out absentmindedly. In her home country, there was a wide range of religions and gods.

“No.” the instructor said, smiling sweetly at the tween girl sitting across from her with her legs crossed and her head resting in her palms.
“He was Jesus; God Almighty”.

Conclusion
As Heidi headed back to her bunk with Pamela, she couldnt help but smile. She had sought out the Camp instructor after story time ended to learn more about this Almighty God.

She had heard of more gods than she could count on both hands but never one who despite being the Almighty God, who couldn’t be compared to any other , so loved her that He not only created a plan to save her but came unto this very earth and got elbow and knee deep in dirt working out her salvation with his very own hands.
