The epitome of Intimacy is a FACE TO FACE encounter. There are always levels in the Lord – empty rooms to explore. And our hunger, heart desire and heartbeat is to go all out for the Lord. When I talk about a FACE TO FACE encounter, I mean two things;

Literally seeing the FACE of the Lord

Having an intimate encounter with the manifest presence of God alone

This mystery of intimacy was never revealed in the Old Testament. Sometimes we don’t fully understand the access Christ sacrificed to give us. The legends of the Old Testament only encountered a figure of HIS FACE. Even with that, there were levels. It was said that Abraham met God, but actually, in Genesis 18:2, Abraham looked and saw three men standing nearby. What Abraham encountered were angels as men, one who had the name of the Lord upon Him.

That is what happened in the Old Testament when they saw God, you either see a vision of Him like Isaiah or you encountered an angel that bore His name or you encountered a man of God. Even Moses who had written about himself that He spoke to the Lord FACE TO FACE in Exodus 33:11, only encountered A FIGURE OF HIS FACE. In Exodus 33:20, we see that no man could handle the revelation of the FACE of THE LORD in the Old Testament and live.

But after CHRIST died and resurrected, now we all – not some believers, not some Prophets or Apostles or Pastors – but we all, with unveiled face, can behold as in a mirror the glory of the Lord.

The ultimate of our relationship with the Lord is to see HIS FACE. Even in the New Testament, there are levels.

1 Corinthians 13:12 NKJV

For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then FACE TO FACE….

So the believer can have a mirror dimension encounter with the Lord but I pray that we move from this level to a FACE TO FACE encounter.

There are three main things that can build intimacy.

HAVING SECRETS

The level of secrets you have with someone can reflect the level of intimacy. The higher the intimacy, the greater the secrets.

GIVING TIME

Time is a non-negotiable factor in fostering a relationship. Because you give time to what you value. The more time you give to the Lord, the higher the intimacy. Assess your life. Whatever is competing for the time you can give to the Lord is an idol, destroy it.

COMMUNICATION

Communication has a way of drawing your heart. That is why you can easily develop feelings for someone you spend a lot of time talking to. The greater the level of communication, the higher the intimacy. As you spend time in conversation with someone, secrets spill out, increasinng the level of intimacy. Therefore, all these three factors work together in building intimacy.
